Debugging

If your scale indicator is properly connected to you PC and you have selected the correct communication port Name, something should appear in the Raw Data control. Follow the steps below if the data that you see is not legible.

1.Adjust the Baud Rate property until the data in the Raw Data control starts to become legible. It doesn't have to be perfect but you should be able to almost read the data.
2.When the data is almost legible, start adjusting the Parity, Data bits and Stop bits. Some common combinations of Parity, Data bits, and Stop bits are as follows:

None, 8, 1

None, 7, 2

Even, 7, 1

Odd, 7, 1

What if nothing is being displayed in the Terminal?

If nothing appears in the Raw Data control, try adjusting the Name property of the Communication Port. The most common values are COM1 and COM2. If nothing appears in the Raw Data control after you try all of the available Names, you may have one or more of the following problems:

a.Your scale indicator may not be transmitting data continuously. Contact the service technician who maintains your scale to confirm that your scale indicator is configured to send weight data continuously.
b.If your scale indicator has more than one serial port available, you may not be connected to the one that is sending data continuously. Contact the service technician who maintains your scale to confirm that you are connected to the correct port.
c.There may be a problem with the interface cable between the scale indicator and the PC.
d.The serial port on the scale indicator may not be working correctly.
e.The serial ports on the PC may not be working correctly.
